NFI
NFI and Daimler have nurtured a partnership built on innovation and growth…from the heyday of diesel fuel to the first miles of the Electric Age.
For decades, NFI and Daimler have built a partnership grounded in trust, innovation, and a shared commitment to advancing transportation. Lately, that commitment has been nothing less than electrifying.
The relationship began in 1992, when NFI placed an initial order for 700 Freightliner vehicles. Since then, NFI has seen Freightliner consistently align with its own commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence. From spacious, driver-focused interiors and aerodynamic designs to technologies intended to reduce driver fatigue and enhance safety, alertness, and productivity, NFI has relied on Freightliner to anticipate its ever-evolving transportation needs.
That shared spirit of innovation has become even more important as transportation continues to evolve.
In 2018, NFI partnered with Daimler as part of the Freightliner Electric Innovation Fleet, deploying electric vehicles in its port drayage operations serving the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. This collaboration has marked an important step forward in demonstrating the potential of zero-emission freight transportation in real-world applications.
NFI has delivered its verdict on the potential of electric power by continuing to expand its electric fleet.
Today, NFI operates more than 40 Freightliner electric vehicles, building on years of collaboration and experience as they team with Daimler to design the next generations of freight transportation. From that first 700-vehicle order in 1992 to today’s growing electric fleet, the NFI and Daimler relationship reflects what’s possible when two organizations share a cultural commitment to innovation, reliability, and real progress.
