Lonestar Truck Group
From childhood fantasy to the front lines of the trucking business.
Adam Arrington grew up in the trucking business, since his father had been a driver for 17 years. Later, in the early 1980s, when this industry was still regulated, Adam started his own trucking company.
They ran old equipment and always went to the Freightliner dealer in Texarkana for parts and service. Adam says he started going to that dealership at 8 years old. One day, when he was 11, he met a salesman at his dad’s yard while working in the truck shop. He couldn’t believe a salesman got to drive around in a new truck and sell those for a living.
After college, Adam drove a truck to earn a living, and then earned the opportunity to join the dealership in a new- and used-car sales role. For the last 26 years, he has held a number of dealership roles ranging from Truck Sales and Parts Sales to GM and EVP, and has had the privilege of supporting both customers and coworkers and learning from some of the best colleagues in the industry.
Adam says that the suppliers, coworkers, customers, and DTNA partners have changed his family’s life. The relationships that have developed over the past 26 years are lifelong and are rooted in “who we are, who we will be, and how we operate.”
Adam says his first mile wasn’t pretty, but “we all start somewhere, and my start was as an 8-year-old kid at the parts counter, eating the dealership’s free popcorn and drinking $0.25 soft drinks from the vending machine.” Even then, he was dreaming of owning a new Freightliner one day. Now, all these years later, he’s proud to be part of a team helping customers spec and purchase the most state-of-the-art CL6-8 safety-equipped vehicles in North America.
